The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) is demonstrating its commitment to the UAE’s industrial growth by showcasing online and smart services that bolster sector competitiveness at the GITEX Global 2024 exhibition currently being held in Dubai.

Complementing this, the ministry is conducting three workshops aimed at addressing key issues in AI and cybersecurity, fostering strategic thinking in a rapidly changing market.

Humaid Alshamsi, Director of Customer Happiness at MoIAT, spoke to Aletihad about their participation in GITEX Global 2024.

He stressed the ministry's commitment to innovation, stating: "Today, at the 44th edition of GITEX, we are excited to present the demo version of our transformative project, the UAE Integrated Industrial Dashboard. This initiative aims to empower decision-makers through effective data collection and analysis, supporting the growth and competitiveness of the industrial sector by showcasing investment opportunities and aiding leaders in making informed decisions."

Alshamsi further highlighted the recent launch of the upgraded MoIAT website, which was unveiled just two days ago.

"We have adopted new technologies to enhance the services offered through our website, including AI functionalities that improve user experience," he noted.

"In addition, we have designed the website to be accessible for people of determination, incorporating features to ensure a seamless experience."

At GITEX, MoIAT is also showcasing a virtual reality machine that provides answers to audience inquiries about industrial services.

"This tool not only engages visitors but also prepares them for future editions of our conferences, ensuring they are well-informed before their visit," Alshamsi explained.

In discussing MoIAT's broader goals, he drew attention to the ministry's focus on adopting cutting-edge technologies across its services.

"We are responsible for advancing technology within the industrial sector, and we actively implement innovations like AI and blockchain. Our dedicated departments are focused on encouraging factories to adopt these technologies."

He cited the Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI) as an example of their efforts, which assesses and evaluates factories in the country, providing them with scores to benchmark their performance against peers.

"By offering reports and insights, we help enhance the operational efficiency of these factories, ultimately contributing to the country's industrial competitiveness," he stated.

Alshamsi further noted that through these initiatives, MoIAT seeks to engage closely with its customers and capture their insights to better understand their needs and expectations from the ministry.

With a vision to make the UAE a leading global hub for industry and future technologies, MoIAT is committed to achieving the objectives of Operation 300bn, which will support more than 13,500 SMEs by 2031

By engaging in collaboration with government, private sector partners, as well as investors, MoIAT is enhancing the UAE’s industrial landscape.

The country’s ranking of 27th on the UNIDO Competitive Industrial Performance Index (CIP) further highlights its competitive industrial capabilities on a global scale, he added.
