The UAE has continued its humanitarian aid for Lebanon, with the dispatch of three more planes carrying necessary relief aid including medical and food supplies, ambulances, and shelter equipment. With these, the country has so far sent 12 aircraft carrying 515 tonnes of aid supplies.

This is part of the two-week national relief campaign "The UAE stands with Lebanon” which began on October 8, in coordination with relevant international organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The campaign was launched as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

As the UAE extends its humanitarian airlift with three more aircraft carrying 120 tonnes of aid materials for Lebanon and for Lebanese refugees to Syria, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations, stressed that the continued flow of UAE aid for the Lebanese reflected the UAE's humanitarian commitment and global responsibility to stand with peoples and societies in times of hardship and speedily alleviate their suffering.

Al Shamsi added, “The UAE has always been a global icon in humanitarian work and in helping societies in the midst of disasters and conflicts restore security and stability.”
