ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Aletihad newspaper, part of Abu Dhabi Media Network, the leading media company in the UAE, will organise the 19th edition of the annual Aletihad Forum on October 21. Held under the theme "Artificial Intelligence: A Driver for Sustainable Development", this year's forum coincides with the 55th anniversary of the launch of Aletihad newspaper, which was founded in 1969.

The forum will be organised in partnership with TRENDS Research and Advisory, and will bring together leading Emirati, Arab, and international thinkers, writers, journalists, researchers, and academics to exchange ideas and insights, highlighting key regional and global developments as well as future trends relevant to the UAE and the Arab world.

It will analyse the role of artificial intelligence, the knowledge economy, sustainable development, economic diversification and major investment opportunities. The event will also explore leveraging data and technological advancements to find new ways to improve the quality of life.

The forum will also discuss associated challenges, regulatory frameworks, and the need for regulations that enhance benefits and mitigate risks.

Enhancing the Media Landscape

Rashed Humaid Al Qubaisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Network, said: "The organisation of the 19th edition of the Aletihad Forum aligns with our strategic objectives aimed at enhancing the national media landscape and elevating the level of cultural and intellectual dialogue. We are committed to reinforcing the role and significance of the forum as a leading platform for gathering thinkers and opinion leaders from various fields to discuss key issues. This year's forum presents an important opportunity to explore the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on sustainable development and the knowledge economy, reflecting our commitment to providing content that enriches community awareness and meets the aspirations of the UAE and its wise leadership."

Al Qubaisi added: "At Abu Dhabi Media Network, we strive to provide programmes and initiatives that contribute to driving innovation. Through the forum, we reaffirm our commitment to showcasing the achievements of the UAE and ambitious initiatives such as artificial intelligence and modern technology that enhance sustainable development and realise the 'UAE's Centennial Vision 2071'."

Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development

Dr. Hamad Al Kaabi, Chief Aletihad News Center Officer, said: "The Aletihad Forum has been a prominent annual gathering for nearly two decades, bringing together thought leaders from the UAE and the Arab world to discuss issues affecting the communities in the UAE and the region. This year, the forum will spotlight artificial intelligence as a key tool for achieving sustainable development, aligning with the goals of the UAE's Centennial Vision 2071, which outlines a future reliant on advanced technology and innovative sectors to enhance a diversified economy, ultimately building a smart future."

The forum's special focus on AI and advanced technologies stems from the "UAE's Centennial Vision 2071", a comprehensive long-term governmental action plan, inspired by the historic lecture given by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, outlining the blueprint for building the UAE of the future. The vision outlines a national strategy to enhance the country's reputation and soft power, diversify government revenue sources beyond oil, and invest in technology-focused education.

A Platform for Opinion Leaders

The forum also strengthens Aletihad newspaper's position as a key platform and strategic meeting point for thinkers and opinion leaders to discuss opportunities and challenges related to artificial intelligence, while promoting the UAE's projects in this field.

Additionally, it aims to attract new talents to the newspaper in the area of AI, highlighting its contributions and role in enhancing cultural awareness and analysing future issues in line with national efforts to achieve sustainable development.
