Abu Dhabi non-oil sector imports surge 7% in H1 2024

Non-oil sector imports through Abu Dhabi ports increased by about seven percent during the first half of this year, according to data from the emirate’s Statistics Centre.

The total volume of imports amounted to Dh68.5 billion, an increase of Dh4.1 billion compared to the same period last year.

The data showed that machinery and transportation equipment were the most imported, accounting for 45 percent of total imports and amounting to Dh30.6 billion, achieving a growth of about 17 percent compared to Dh26.2 billion in the first half of 2023.

In third place came chemicals with imports exceeding Dh5.9 billion, followed by imports of food and live animals, which amounted to Dh5.6 billion, while imports of vegetable oils and fats amounted to Dh3 billion.

As for non-edible raw materials, excluding fuel, their imports were recorded at Dh4.1 billion, while imports of various manufactured goods were worth Dh2.9 billion.
