In a testament to Dubai's commitment to fostering talent and innovation, Emirati student Ali Humaid Al Loughani was awarded the ‘Leadership Medal’ and two gold medals at the 6th International Inventions and Trade Expo held in London from September 24-26.
Al Loughani, supported by Digital Dubai, was recognised for his innovative projects utilising AI and IoT technologies to address marine safety and sustainability challenges, standing out among 285 participants from around the world. Despite being the youngest participant, his achievements highlight the potential of Emirati talent in promoting environmentally friendly solutions globally.
During the event, Al Loughani presented two significant projects: the ‘Ship Accident Prevention Project', which employs artificial intelligence to improve maritime safety, and the ‘Hydropower Project', a hybrid energy solution integrating solar power with hydrogen fuel cells, powered by IoT technologies. His participation reflects Digital Dubai's commitment to fostering creative initiatives within the community.
In addition to the prestigious ‘Leadership Medal', Al Loughani earned a gold medal for each of his two projects. He was further acknowledged by the Inventors Association of Romania, Norton University of Cambodia, and the National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest.
Al Loughani's AI-based ship accident prevention system enhances maritime safety by using advanced technologies to monitor and analyse real-time data on sea conditions, ship speed, and weather, preventing potential accidents. The system supports global sustainability efforts by reducing the environmental impact of maritime accidents, such as oil spills, and plays a key role in protecting marine ecosystems.
His ‘Hydropower Project’ aims to create a hybrid energy system combining solar energy and hydrogen fuel cells, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and contributing to clean energy and climate action goals. The project integrates solar panels, hydrogen fuel cells, and an electrolysis generator to convert solar energy into electricity, promoting sustainable energy use.
Al Loughani has an impressive track record, previously winning second place in the young inventors’ category at the 34th Technology, Innovation, and Invention Exhibition in Malaysia. Digital Dubai will now facilitate a scientific visit for him to Dallas, Texas, where he will participate in the Best Young Inventors Award and the Dr. Robot competition. This opportunity will provide him with mentorship, resources, and support to further develop his innovative ideas and pursue patent registration.
