ABU DHABI (WAM)

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has intensified its efforts to raise legal awareness among non-Arabic-speaking foreign communities, aiming to achieve justice and uphold the rule of law.

During the first half of 2024, the Judicial Department, represented by the Legal Awareness Committee for Members of Non-Arabic Speaking Foreign Communities, focused on employees in the health sector within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This increased the total number of beneficiaries of awareness programmes to approximately 60,000 foreign healthcare workers.

Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of ADJD, said the expansion of awareness and educational initiatives aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of ADJD, to enhance legal knowledge and familiarise a wide segment of society with the laws and legislation currently in force in the nation.

He added that the Foreign Communities' Legal Awareness Committee is committed to covering all sectors and expanding the use of modern electronic tools to deliver targeted messages. This includes publishing materials on internal websites for employees in targeted entities, hosting remote lectures in multiple languages, and displaying bulletins on smart screens and signboards.

The committee selects relevant topics based on the needs of each sector to ensure the maximum benefit from the programme.

Al Abri also highlighted the committee's desire to informing foreign nationals about the judicial and legal services offered by the Judicial Department. These include the English Notary Services Bureau, which supports the business sector across the Middle East by providing legal assistance for notarial transactions involving foreign individuals and companies, and the Civil Family Court, which oversees family matters for non-nationals, offering services such as civil marriage, civil wills, and inheritance matters.

He commended the strategic partners in Abu Dhabi for their cooperation, which were key to the success of this initiative.
