Dubai Municipality has ramped up its inspection and monitoring campaigns across more than 606 educational institutions in the emirate. The aim is to ensure strict compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards. This includes verifying the availability of professional health certificates, pest control measures, and the implementation of public safety protocols in all public facilities, such as swimming pools and playgrounds.
The municipality also placed a strong emphasis on the safety of water systems. This involves regular cleaning, documentation of laboratory test results, and verification of water quality in swimming pools, along with preventive maintenance procedures. Air quality systems were also scrutinised, with inspections of ventilation filters, ensuring mechanical ventilation, and real-time measurement of indoor air pollutants.
Consumer product safety was another focal point, ensuring that cleaning and disinfection materials used in educational institutions are municipality-approved and that school uniforms comply with the municipality’s requirements. These efforts are part of ongoing campaigns to uphold safety, public health, and food safety standards in educational and commercial institutions, thereby enhancing the quality of life for the community.
Proactive monitoring measures included verifying that buildings meet approved standards, assessing the regular maintenance of ventilation, air conditioning, and water systems, and ensuring the availability of cleaning and disinfection reports for tanks and internal distribution networks. Preventive maintenance is supported by certified laboratory reports confirming safety.
The municipality is also raising awareness about health and safety requirements through various programmes and initiatives. The “Health and Safety Ambassadors in Schools” initiative educates staff and ambassadors on school building safety, handling violations and emergencies, and modern techniques for monitoring pollutants.
