The Abu Dhabi Fishermen Cooperative Society is making its presence heard at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX 2024) by raising awareness of the importance of preserving marine resources.
Through its participation, the society also showcases its achievements and initiatives in the field of sustainable fishing and preserving the marine environment.
The Abu Dhabi Fishermen Cooperative Society is spearheading efforts to promote sustainable fishing projects, ensuring that marine resources are not depleted. These initiatives include strengthening regulatory control systems and aligning fishing seasons with the ecological needs of the marine environment.
According to Dhikra Mohammed Al Marzouqi, a representative of the society, they provide training programmes and workshops for fishermen with the aim of improving practices and ensuring the application of sustainable methods. The society also employs fishermen with experience.
“We have new initiatives for children, including school trips, on fishing, fishing conditions and marine heritage. Children are our future, and they are essential in preserving our nation’s rich marine heritage,” Al Marzouqi said.
Running until September 8 at ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, ADIHEX showcases a diverse range of activities and exhibits related to hunting, equestrian sports, and outdoor lifestyle.
