DUBAI (Aletihad)
Under the directives of the Acting Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, His Excellency Expert Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, a delegation from Dubai Police, led by the Director of Lahbab Police Station, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Mohammed Salem, along with his deputy, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Saqr Al Amiri, and the Victim Support Team from the General Department of Criminal Investigation, visited the students injured last Tuesday in vehicle overturn accident on Hatta-Lahbab Road.
The visit took place at Al Jalila and Rashid Hospitals and in their homes to check on their health and wish them a speedy recovery.
During the visit, Salem and his accompanying delegation inquired about the students' health conditions, distributing flowers and gifts to them and wishing them a quick recovery and a return to their studies.
He emphasised that this visit is part of Dubai Police's community initiatives aimed at strengthening societal communication with all government and private institutions and individuals.
"The visit is also aligned with the 'School Security' initiative, which aims to enhance community partnership between the police and educational institutions, contribute to building a generation that is aware and educated in security and traffic matters, and launch awareness programmes in coordination with educational sectors, among other goals," he confirmed.
The families of the injured students expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Dubai Police for their humanitarian initiatives, which aim to uplift the spirits of the injured students and stand by them during this difficult time.
Notably, the vehicle overturn occurred on Hatta-Lahbab Road last Tuesday, resulting in the death of one student and the injury of 11 others, including the driver.
Initial information suggests that the accident was caused by excessive speeding, negligence, and lack of attention by the driver, leading to loss of control of the vehicle, which veered suddenly, collided with a metal barrier, and overturned in the sandy area off the road.
