DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

Dubai Police welcomed the new academic year with a comprehensive security plan coordinated with strategic partners and relevant authorities to ensure the highest safety and security standards for students, parents, educators, and road users.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, stated that the "A Day Without Accidents" campaign kicked off earlier today, the 26th of August, coinciding with the first day of school. The campaign aims to correct driver behaviour through shared responsibility, achieve the highest levels of safety to protect lives and property, and meet the highest success rates in the national safety index.

The campaign, launched by the Ministry of Interior, encourages the public to participate actively, with a reduction of four traffic points for those who commit by signing the pledge via the Ministry of Interior's dedicated link.

Al Mazrouei emphasised Dubai Police's commitment to providing students with the highest traffic safety standards by utilising all available resources.

"This includes deploying security patrols and police officers in front of schools, on surrounding roads, and at intersections to regulate the flow of vehicles and ensure the safe entry and exit of students. This operation is overseen by directors of general departments and their deputies, station directors and their deputies, and senior-ranking officers," he said.

Al Mazouri reaffirmed that Dubai Police remains firm on the safety of students, parents, and educational staff. He noted that the campaign has been successful in previous years due to drivers' and parents' compliance with traffic laws, contributing to a safe return to school life.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, mentioned that Dubai Police has implemented traffic plans to ensure a safe school year for students and parents.

"This includes deploying traffic patrols in front of schools, at intersections, and on internal roads to manage traffic flow within the emirate, alleviate traffic congestion, regulate vehicle movement, and facilitate the flow of school buses," "It also includes organising students' entry into their schools and ensuring the safety of pedestrian crossings to protect students as they disembark vehicles and proceed to the school gate, in line with the Ministry of Interior's strategy to make roads safer," he said.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan further explained that Dubai Police has prepared a marketing plan for the campaign, featuring awareness videos and disseminating information through Dubai Police's websites and social media platforms, ATMs, emails to Dubai Police and government employees, and awareness posters.

The campaign’s poster will also be displayed in government and private institutions across the emirate, shopping centres, and intelligent billboards on all major roads.

Additionally, to raise public awareness, text messages will be sent in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and Du.

Lectures will also be provided to driving schools and delivery companies.
