The UAE has been experiencing an unusual August weather with somewhat reduced temperatures caused by dusty winds.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has been warning UAE residents of dusty weather and reduced horizontal visibility for some days now.

The Centre also said scattered rains are being witnessed in the eastern parts of the country.

Even in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, overcast skies at times indicate the possibility of sporadic rain.

The NCM asked motorists to drive cautiously as reduced horizontal visibility could cause accidents.

It asked the residents to lock all doors and windows to prevent the dust from entering the buildings.

It also asked them not to expose themselves to the dust as far as possible to prevent health problems.

The NCM said rough sea conditions are likely in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman and asked beach-goers to stay safe and avoid high tides.

The lowest temperature of 18.7°C was recorded at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 1:45 am on Monday, the NCM said.

The highest temperature of 46.3°C was recorded at Al Ghuweifat in Al Dhafra Region at 3:30 pm on Monday.

The NCM forecasts low clouds and light rain along the eastern coast on Tuesday.

Winds will be light to moderate, with gusts that may cause dust and sand, especially in the north and east, the NCM said.

Temperatures in Abu Dhabi are expected to peak to 43°C and drop to 34°C overnight, while Dubai will see a high of 42°C and a low of 33°C.

Both cities will have humid conditions, with maximum humidity levels reaching 70 percent and dropping to a low of 30 percent.

Abu Dhabi Police too have been active on the social media warning motorists of reduced horizontal visibility due to windy and dusty weather conditions and advised them to follow all safety rules.

Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists not to “be distracted by taking videos or using phone while driving.”
