ABU DHABI (WAM)

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed with Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, the serious repercussions of the storming and violations committed at Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists last Tuesday.

In a phone call, the two ministers condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque, particularly the provocative visit by the radical, racist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. They both affirmed that this action is a serious and grave escalation that threatens to lead to rising levels of violence in the region.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Al Safadi discussed joint coordinated steps to confront these violations and establish an international position that demands respect for the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem.

Furthermore, His Highness emphasised the need to respect the custodial role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites in Jerusalem and not to compromise the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration that manages the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah expressed the UAE’s full solidarity and support for all measures implemented by Jordan to protect and preserve sites of religious significance.

The two ministers affirmed the need to reach an immediate ceasefire and end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, adhere to international law, and halt illegal practices in all the regions of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They both reiterated their support for mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach an exchange agreement.
