Al Dhafra Region Municipality achieves milestones in expanding agricultural areas and increasing local wild plants

Al Dhafra Region Municipality, part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), achieved milestones through the Local Plant Propagation Project in Al Dhafra Region.

This includes seed bank establishment to preserve and sustain local plant seeds.

According to a post shared on Abu Dhabi Media Office's X account, key achievements include: 

- Planting more than one million flowering plants
- Producing approximately 250,000 seedlings annually
- Automation of irrigation systems and the introduction of smart irrigation usage
- Reducing water wastage in the irrigation processes
- Preserving the sustainability of the strategic groundwater reserve 
- Contributing to the support of vegetation sustainability, which helps preserve the environment and climate
