Aimed at bolstering capacity and elevating service standards, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has embarked on two projects to enhance three streets within the Emirate, in line with the Municipality’s commitment to improving residents’ quality of life and fostering community wellbeing, at a cost of Dh170 million.

The first project focuses on the development of Salam Street and Sheikh Zayed Street. Salam Street will undergo expansion from Al Mowaihat Roundabout to Ajman Ring Road, accommodating three lanes in each direction. Additionally, intersections will be widened to three lanes, and service roads and parking facilities will be integrated. Estimated at Dh48 million, this 13-month project aims to enhance traffic flow in the Ajman Industrial area and Mowaihat area by connecting them to Sheikh Zayed Street and Ajman Ring Road. The installation of lighting and stormwater drainage systems will further enhance emergency and exceptional situations preparedness.

The second project targets Sheikh Zayed Street in Al Helio area. Over a three-kilometre stretch, the street will be expanded from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to its intersection with Ajman Border Road. Costing Dh53 million and spanning 12 months, this development includes organising intersections with traffic lights, creating U-turns under bridges, and installing lighting and stormwater drainage networks. Services within the project area will be safeguarded. The project aims to optimise traffic flow, improve service levels, and provide efficient access to desired destinations.

In its first phase, the development of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street will cost Dh69 million. A 500-metre bridge with three traffic lanes will connect the Port of Ajman and the city centre to Sheikh Khalifa Intersection. This project aligns with Ajman’s updated strategic infrastructure plan which primarily aims to develop a system designed to the highest global standards. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street is one of the most important streets in the Emirate, witnessing continuous traffic throughout the day. The 14-month project includes constructing service roads, modifying parking on both sides of the street, and creating traffic light intersections with U-turns under bridges.

These projects reflect the Municipality’s commitment to a well-connected and thriving Ajman, ensuring smoother travel experiences for residents and visitors alike. The projects are poised to enhance the Emirate’s infrastructure and connectivity with existing and future developments.
