Tadweer Group and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of Bahrain have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on investment opportunities in the waste management and recycling sector in Bahrain.

The MoU also includes areas of cooperation such as research and development, knowledge exchange, training, and waste awareness. The agreement was signed between His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of Bahrain, and Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Tadweer Group.

The signing took place in the presence of His Excellency Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of Bahrain. Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Tadweer Group, said: “Partnerships are crucial for turning waste into valuable resources. By joining forces with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of Bahrain , we aim to drive sustainability through innovative waste management solutions. This MOU represents a significant step in identifying and developing investment opportunities in Bahrain, strengthening our bilateral ties. We are committed to collaborating on mutual initiatives, including training, capacity building, and raising awareness in waste management. Together, we will lead research and development efforts, creating a blueprint for effective waste management in the region. Our combined expertise will highlight our contributions to global sustainability and promote a circular economy.”

Commenting on the signing, His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture of Bahrain, explained that the MoU aims to “explore available investment opportunities and areas of partnership between the public and private sectors, exchanging expertise and knowledge in waste management and recycling fields, training, as well as capacity building and awareness in the recycling and waste management sector.”

He also noted that this collaboration allows the exchange of information, studies, and research where relevant, according to the policies and commitments of each party, as well as coordination and regular meetings discussing the activation and development of the aspects of cooperation.

It was also agreed to focus efforts on exploring elements of cooperation in the areas and projects including converting waste into energy, converting waste into Sustainable Aviation Fuel, recycling plastic materials, recycling electronic and electrical equipment waste, and recycling used cooking oils.

His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa also praised Tadweer Group’s efforts and its continuous pursuit in achieving sustainability in waste.

He noted the MoU aims to enhance cooperation with Tadweer Group to provide a sustainability model for waste management, and strengthen cooperation in exchanging expertise, and increasing awareness in waste management and recycling.
