The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced an increase of 17% in the amicable resolution of labour disputes, reaching 98% in the first half of 2024.

This development reflects the Ministry's commitment to fostering one of the key components of the UAE's labour market, showcasing a substantial improvement compared to the end of 2023 when the rate stood at 81%.

Official MoHRE statistics showed that for the first time, disputes referred to labour courts dropped significantly to 2%, down from 19% at the close of 2023. Over the past two years, the UAE's labour market has witnessed a gradual decline in court-referred disputes, underscoring the effectiveness of the Ministry's conflict resolution mechanisms.

The MoHRE indicated that the UAE achieved top positions globally and ranked first globally for low labour disputes, according to the annual 2024 World Competitiveness Report. The Ministry emphasised its commitment to providing effective systems for individual labour complaints. With an average of only three complaints per 100 workers, the UAE's labour market demonstrates efficiency and confidentiality in handling grievances.

Recent legislative measures have expedited the resolution of disputes, through a fair and transparent legislative environment characterised by neutrality and integrity. The MoHRE remains committed to guaranteeing the rights of both workers and employers in a balanced manner.

By fostering a competitive labour market supported by legal and legislative system, the UAE continues to be a global destination for living, investment, and work.
