When Boston Celtics teammates Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatlum stepped on to an open-deck team bus during a victory parade as the latest NBA champions, the American city of Boston was not the only one rejoicing, decked up in the team colours.
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena also lit up in the green shades of the basketball team who picked up their 18th championship title. Basketball fans in the UAE can now look forward to watching the same star players head their way to the capital in October as part of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2024, presented by ADQ.
The Etihad Arena acknowledgement coincided with the Celtics’ victory parade celebrations in the franchise’s home state of Massachusetts, which featured a rolling rally parade of duck boats.
The NBA and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi confirmed earlier this year that the Celtics will take on 2023 champions, the Denver Nuggets, as part of the off-season annual exhibition series which is on its way to become a regular feature.
The preseason games are scheduled to take place on Friday, October 4, and Sunday, October 6, at the Etihad Arena, with tickets available on the venue’s website, etihadarena.ae, as well as ticketmaster.ae.
