The UAE stressed that lies, disinformation, and propaganda disseminated by some Sudanese representatives, as well as the targeting of the UAE and other nations, aim to "blind the international community from the heinous acts being committed on the ground by the warring parties."
The statement, posted on the official X account of the UAE Permanent Mission to the UN, also noted that these attention-diverting attempts "will not deter the UAE from continuing to work with international and regional partners to find an urgent political solution to preserve Sudan and help the Sudanese people."
"At the outset, the United Arab Emirates expresses its deep concern over the tragic consequences of the worsening conflict on the brotherly Sudanese people", said His Excellency Mohamed Abushahab, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN, during his address at the UN Security Council.
"With millions of Sudanese people facing a looming famine, it is unconscionable that the Sudanese armed forces continue to obstruct and deny basic humanitarian assistance in violation of international humanitarian law," he stressed.
The UAE believes that the Sudanese people "deserve justice and peace", Abushahab said, calling for a ceasefire, a credible political process and an unhindered flow of humanitarian aid.
"Excuses and finger-pointing only prolong the suffering of civilians," he added.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, echoed the sentiment, stressing the UAE's calls to stop the war and seek a political solution.
"At a time when the UAE seeks to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese brothers, one of the conflicting parties insists on creating side disputes, avoiding negotiations, and obstructing the arrival of humanitarian aid. Our interest is to stop the war and return to the political track. Their interest is to distort our position instead of stopping this war," he said in a post on X.
In support of efforts to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the UAE on Monday announced that it had allocated 70 percent of the $100 million pledged in April to United Nations agencies and various humanitarian organisations.
The commitment was made during the "International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and Neighbouring Countries."
The aid will be allocated to key partners and UN agencies, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN World Food Programme (WFP), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and World Health Organization (WHO), according to the statement posted by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This latest commitment builds on a substantial track of support from the UAE, which includes over $130 million in aid provided to Sudan over the past ten months, as well as sizeable food and medical assistance.
Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said: "The aid provided to Sudan and neighbouring countries by the UAE reflects the unwavering commitment of the country's leadership to provide humanitarian and relief support to the brotherly Sudanese people, to address humanitarian challenges and continuously extend assistance and support to Sudan."
Her Excellency also reiterated the UAE's call for "joint efforts and collaboration to end the conflict, enhance the security and stability of Sudan, prevent further loss of life, and establish a national consensus towards forming a government where civilians lead and participate, while meeting the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people for development and prosperity".
