HALA AL KHAYAT (ABU DHABI)

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has announced an increase in slaughterhouse readiness to accommodate the Eid Al Adha surge of public visitors. Following Eid prayers, the public began flocking to slaughterhouses, with the trend expected to persist throughout the Eid period.

To streamline the sacrificial process, the municipality is offering two avenues: direct visits to slaughterhouses or digital orders via smart applications. The latter has gained popularity among those seeking convenience. The public can order via smartphone apps that provide services easily and conveniently, such as Zabehaty, Zabayeh Al Jazira, Dhabayeh Al Emarat, and Halal Mazarana.

The municipality's preparations include bolstering the workforce with additional butchers, maintenance crews, and officials to handle an estimated 37,000 sacrificial animals.

To enhance visitor comfort, the municipality equipped facilities with air-conditioned tents and shaded walkways, complete with chilled water stations. Special provisions are in place for people of determination and senior citizens.

Operational hours are set from 6am to 5:30pm during Eid Al Adha. The Mina Zayed slaughterhouse is dedicated to Emirates Red Crescent sacrifices and smart app orders. Bani Yas and Al Wathba automated slaughterhouses will cater to public needs, while Al Shahama is designated for orders from the public and smart apps.
Capacity at each location varies: Bani Yas can handle 13,000 animals with 150 butchers; Mina Zayed 10,000 animals with 50 butchers; Al Shahama 7,000 animals with 50 butchers; and Al Wathba 7,000 animals with 45 butchers.

Veterinary staff are on-site at each facility to inspect pre-slaughter animals and post-slaughter meat, ensuring public health safety by providing disease-free meat.

The municipality cautions against illegal slaughtering outside approved facilities, citing Law No. (2) of 2012. Violations will be monitored by inspection teams who are authorised to issue fines.
