DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Dubai Police's General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions announced the schedule for remote inmate visits during Eid Al Adha holiday.

They extended Eid greetings to UAE citizens, residents, and visitors.

Acting Director General, Brigadier Salah Juma Bu Osaiba, confirmed that the remote video communication service between inmates and their families, both inside and outside the country, will be available on the first and second days of Eid, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Brigadier Bu Osaiba stated that due to the success of the remote video communication service since its launch, Dubai Police continues to provide it to inmates and their families, especially as it has enabled inmates to communicate with their families both in the UAE and abroad.

He emphasised that Dubai Police is keen to provide full logistical support to inmates so they can communicate with their families through electronic devices in cooperation with the General Department of Artificial Intelligence.

Bu Osaiba explained that the service works by having the inmate's family submit an electronic request to visit their imprisoned relatives through the Dubai Police app on smartphones.

A text message is then sent to the applicant with a link for the video call and its scheduled time through the Dubai Police website, enabling the inmate to make the video call using the electronic devices provided by the police.
