Aiming to transform the agriculture sector in the UAE, with a particular focus on food security, and sustainability, du and Gracia Group have joined hands to launch a first-of-its kind agritech digital platform.
The partnership - du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), and Gracia Group, a holding group of agriculture-focused companies – endeavours the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) in the agricultural sector, encourages local participation, and provides comprehensive training.
The platform aims to automate traditional agricultural processes and introduces new agritech methods using "Agriculture 360°", an innovative model of future farming designed by Gracia Group.
This platform offers a comprehensive experience, connecting the entire agricultural ecosystem, farmers, buyers, suppliers, agritech entities, business entities, and retail outlets under one umbrella.
In an interview with Aletihad, Hamed Al-Hamed, Founder and Chairman of Gracia Group, said that "Agriculture 360°" endorses the government's objective of being a leader in global agriculture.
"Agriculture 360°" is a revolutionary model of future farming and it involves both the public and private sectors and all stakeholders in the agriculture sector, he noted.
The platform leverages modern technologies to enhance the agricultural sector in addition to promptly tackling the challenges and driving a qualitative transformation, he added.
Al-Hamed highlighted that "Agriculture 360°", which he termed as a virtual agricultural city, serves as a core element in green digital transformation spearheaded by the UAE at COP28.
"The 'Agriculture 360°' ecosystem enables farmers to receive advanced training, acquainting them with modern agricultural trends. It also gives information about investment opportunities that can enhance the production and boost revenue," Al-Hamed said.
Additionally, the platform streamlines work procedures for all societal groups, different age groups and cultures.
A key highlight of the project is its direct communication services and client confidentiality. They also equip users with the knowledge and skills necessary to use this virtual agricultural technology effectively, he said.
"In cooperation with our strategic partner, du, we have developed regulations and procedures to maintain the confidentiality of customer information. Besides, there is a specialised team dedicated to monitoring these procedures and continuous development processes to keep pace with technological progress and preserve the purpose of this city," Al-Hamed said.
