His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, on Monday presided over the graduation ceremony of 643 students of the University of Sharjah.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed delivered a speech, in which he highlighted perseverance as a key driver for achieving success and good result.
His Highness also expressed pride in the achievements of this year’s cohort, and extended his congratulations to the students and their families.
This year’s cohort comprises 521 with master’s, 102 with PhDs and 20 with postgraduate diplomas.
Speaking to Aletihad, Dr. Amina Mohammed Almarzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student and Branch Affairs at the University of Sharjah, expressed her delight on the occasion.
“We are so proud of them, and we hope that you know every single one of them will have a bright future. We are so proud that the 15 colleges have postgraduates, either PhD or master’s degree holders. This is a very good outcome,” Dr. Almarzouqi said.
She noted that the university’s success in postgraduate research will enhance its position among universities.
The UAE is always looking for excellence and research and development provide both the industry and government with key tools to meet the highest standards, she added.
Also speaking to Aletihad, Njood Alzaabi, a postgraduate student from the College of Business Administration, shared her excitement and educational journey.
“While I was in college, I worked in different areas such as marketing and entrepreneurship. This gave me the opportunity and insight to come with a project covering these areas.”
For Alzaabi, the University of Sharjah’s cultural diversity has enriched her experience.
“Meeting different cultures and traditions has helped me develop a better understanding and approach towards students and staff. I learned from my colleagues and my instructors.”
Lubaba Anis, a postgraduate student from the College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences, said she was “overwhelmed with happiness” and the feeling of graduating is “indescribable”.
“My experience at the University of Sharjah, during my BA and MA, has given me a deeper understanding of the value of languages and their role in building cultural connections between communities. Translation plays a vital role in this process, and I am committed to continually improving myself to contribute to reinforcing these connections through professional translation,” she said.
Mohamed Alzaabi, one of the parents attending the graduation ceremony, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for the unlimited support for the university in fostering a culture of knowledge, and to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi for supporting the development of the university.
Alzaabi also wished the graduates success in their future endeavours.
