AMNA AL KETBI (DUBAI)
Dubai Municipality has launched extensive inspection and monitoring campaigns across the Emirate's markets, targeting shopping centres, food establishments, and food preparation and handling facilities. The initiative aims to ensure strict adherence to food transport, storage, preparation, and display protocols.
For Eid Al Adha, the Municipality has also unveiled a comprehensive work plan for Dubai's abattoirs, ensuring they are primed for the festive surge.
The campaigns are part of a broader strategy by the Dubai Municipality to oversee the bustling sectors during Eid, with a focus on upholding safety, public health, and food safety standards, proactively shielding the community from food-related hazards, thereby elevating the community's health, safety, quality of life, and wellbeing.
The Municipality's food safety campaign targets popular Arabic sweet shops, chocolate outlets, and bakeries, which traditionally experience a boom during Eid. The campaigns are designed to instil best practices to prevent product contamination, upholding the health of food handlers, and ensuring that establishments meet the requirements for transporting, storing, preparing, and displaying food products and materials.
Moreover, the campaigns extend to educational and awareness efforts, instructing food establishment workers on optimal health practices, personal hygiene, and the importance of wearing protective gear and holding valid occupational health cards. They also stress cooking foods at appropriate temperatures and maintaining the required temperatures post-preparation.
A dedicated team of 56 inspectors has been tasked with conducting thorough inspections across a variety of establishments, including hotels, beauty salons, cafes, and car service centres.
These inspections will also monitor public safety in recreational areas, ensuring consumer products like toys, henna products, and hair dyes meet safety standards, and ensure air quality in community labour markets, labour accommodations, shopping centres, and cinemas.
The Municipality's efforts are also directed at ensuring public health and safety regulations, ensuring products meet approved specifications, valid business and activities' permits, and the quality and compliance of water systems, including swimming pools and tanks. The campaigns also cover indoor air quality, pool safety requirements, and the safety of elevators.
The Dubai Municipality has developed a comprehensive strategy to ensure smooth operations at abattoirs, aiming to deliver high-quality services that align with expectations. The strategyincludes providing a workforce to manage the anticipated influx of livestock and the deployment of veterinarians to certify animal health. Additionally, the Municipality is encouraging and motivating community members to use smart applications, highlighting the ease of purchasing and delivery options.
