While Artificial Intelligence (AI) may lead to job displacement, those who embrace and adapt to the changes brought about by this technology will find new opportunities within evolving job landscapes, said His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
His remarks were made during the 22nd Arab Media Forum held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Al Olama highlighted the transformative impact of AI across various fields.
He noted that the UAE government is committed to leveraging AI responsibly towards societal and economic advancement, through remaining vigilant of the risks, pioneering the establishment of legislations to face the associated challenges, and enabling future generations to leverage the full potential of this technology for the prosperity of the country.
The minister cited the “One Million Prompters” initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, as a proactive step to fast-track the adoption of AI applications.
The initiative aims to upskill one million people in prompt engineering over the next three years through a comprehensive programme, offering training courses and accredited certifications in AI prompt engineering.
Al Olama foresees that the expertise and skills harnessed through this strategic initiative will allow the UAE to emerge as a formidable competitor, possibly surpassing major economies.
The minister also shed light on the potential for integrating AI into media platforms to streamline content analysis and allow users to navigate vast amounts of information efficiently, ultimately enhancing understanding of global events.
