Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, said that the United Arab Emirates plays a significant role in enriching the Gulf media landscape.

AlBudaiwi told WAM on the sidelines of the Arab Media Forum that the UAE has emerged as a prominent hub for key forums that address the current state and future trajectory of diverse sectors, with the media industry playing a crucial role as a catalyst for change.

He pointed to the importance of continuing to advance Gulf cooperation in various paths, including economic, political, and social fields while strengthening media capabilities that play a vital role in enhancing comprehensive Gulf development.

"The GCC countries share a strong bond, working collaboratively on important issues. We have unified messages that extend beyond media; they encompass political, economic, social, and educational spheres. Regular meetings on these topics, including media, ensure we remain aligned and effective," he said.

AlBudaiwi also highlighted the recent Gulf media ministerial meeting held in Qatar, which focused on strengthening the role of Gulf countries, their shared media messages, and public pronouncements.

Moreover, it aimed to revitalise the media sector and enhance the work of the Committee of Information Ministers, he said.

AlBudaiwi further emphasised the need to develop media capabilities alongside other development priorities.
