Abu Dhabi Police wins first place in Fifth Police Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) General Command secured the first position overall, winning 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and five bronze medals in the fifth Police Jiu-Jitsu  Championship for both men and women.

The men's team won 18 medals (eight gold, eight silver, and two bronze), while the women's team won 11 medals (four gold, four silver, and three bronze).

This comes after competing against over 140 players from various police units as well as the Ministry of Interior team.

Head of the ADP's Sports Council, Colonel Dr. Rashid Muhammad Burshid,commended the achievements of their teams and congratulated them on their wins.

He also praised the efforts of the Police Sports Federation of the Ministry of Interior, emphasiSing their support for female police officers within the organiSation.

Competitions in the men's championship included two categories: one for white and blue belts at seven weight categories, and another for purple, brown, and black belts at seven weight categories.

The women's championship included all belt levels at seven weight categories.

Director of the Police Sports Education Centre in Abu Dhabi, Colonel Sultan Mohamed Al-Suweidi, accepted the championship plaque on behalf of both the men's and women's teams

ADP has been a key supporter of the national Jiu-Jitsu project since the establishment of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, forming a team for the police.

The adoption of Jiu-Jitsu by the ADP is seen as a positive step towards enhancing the skills and competencies of police personnel, as the sport not only has physical benefits but also mental advantages.
