The General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) participated in the international conference for Disaster Victim Identification (DVI)
They took part in general meetings, as well as those for specialised teams that operate as part of the the International Guiding Group for Disaster Victims Identification (DVI).
This came during the 33rd INTERPOL DVI Conference at their headquarters in Lyon, France.
The meeting was held between May 13 and 16, in which two working papers were presented that discussed the UAE's efforts in this area.
Head of the UAE DVI Team, General Ahmed Nasser Al-Kindi, emphasised the ADP's interest in taking part in such international meetings to learn from experiences, utilise proposed techniques, and build international partnerships to achieve strategic goals.
The Victim Affairs Office is focused on providing support for identifying victims of anonymous crises and disasters, as well as assisting affected families in coordination with the relevant partners.
During the main meeting, a member of the international group, Adel Muhammad Al Ali, discussed the readiness of the UAE team and the country's commitment to training specialised teams both locally and regionally.
Major Muhammad Maatouq Al Ali from the Victim Affairs Office at ADP reviewed the technical readiness of the UAE in terms of the DVI system and its efforts in training at the regional level.
A forensic orthopedic specialist, Captain Tamim Awad Tamimi, highlighted the UAE's DVI team's response to Storm Daniel in Derna, Libya in September 2024.
He further highlighted underscored the UAE's efforts in field response, capacity building, and training.
