The Muslim Council of Elders will be participating at the 33rd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024, from April 29 to May 5, 2024.

The participation is part of the Council's mission to promote peace, strengthen the values of dialogue and tolerance, and build bridges of cooperation among people of different races and beliefs.

The pavilion of the Muslim Council of Elders at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair presents over 220 diverse publications in five languages, addressing prominent cultural and intellectual issues. Additionally, it offers a number of seminars, activities, and events discussing topics such as dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, youth, and peacebuilding.

Notable Publications

Among the notable publications the Council presented during its participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair are more than 30 authored by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, which highlight the tolerance and richness of Islamic heritage, including titles such as; "Al Qawl Al Tayeb," "From My Old Notebooks," "Ahl Al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah," "Insights into Imam Al-Ash'ari's Thought," "A Discussion on Ailments and Objectives," "Return to Faith," "A Word to the Youth," among others.

The Council’s pavilion also includes significant publications such as ""Love in the Holy Quran" by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, a member of the Council, "The Pope and the Grand Imam: A Thorny Path" by Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, and the "Basis of Understanding from Thought and Language” by His Eminence Dr. Mustapha Benhamza, member of the Higher Scientific Council of Al-Azhar and the Muslim Council of Elders and President of the Ulema Council of Oujda.

Furthermore, the pavilion features a number of new releases by Al Hokama Publishing for the year 2024, including the book "The West and Rediscovery of Islam: Approaches to Islam in Contemporary Western Thought" by Professor Tijani Boulaouali, "Identarian Peace Management in the Muslim World: Concepts, Underpinnings, and Mechanisms" by a group of researchers, and "Conceptualizing Peace During the European Renaissance," by Dr. Bennacer El Bouazzati.

Recognising the importance of translation as a bridge between civilisations for constructive communication, the Council will also continue its efforts in translating purposeful books to enhance peace. Notable translated publications exhibited by the council include "Religious Tolerance in the World Religions" by Jacob Neusner and Bruce Chilton and "Countering Islamophobia in Europe" by various researchers, and "Islam, the West, and Tolerance: Conceiving Coexistence" by Dr. Aaron Tyler.

Seminars

The Council's pavilion will also host several seminars and lectures discussing various issues such as climate change, human fraternity and its leading models, humanities and their role in promoting acceptance of others, media and its role in confronting discrimination and racism, the role of religious leaders in spreading and promoting dialogue and tolerance, youth and peacebuilding, and the UAE as a model for diversity and common coexistence.

In conjunction with celebrating the tenth anniversary of its establishment, the Council's pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will offer a wide range of activities and programmes, including a dedicated book-selling area, and a distinctive corner for Arabic calligraphy, in addition to specially designed entertainment and educational activities for children visitors of the fair.

This is set to be the sixth participation of the Muslim Council of Elders in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, considered a leading platform for cultural, intellectual, and knowledge exchange in the region.

The Council's pavilion is located in Hall 10, Stand 10C17 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
