The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a call to private sector companies in the UAE to implement flexibility in work arrangements due to recent weather disturbances across the country.
The Ministry emphasised the importance of caution in outdoor work sites, where stopping work can be challenging. Ensuring the health and safety of workers during their commute to and from these sites is paramount. Additionally, the MoHRE stressed the need for availability of all health and safety requirements to safeguard workers.
In its pursuit of a safe and healthy work environment, the MoHRE is committed to implementing legislation related to occupational health and safety, ensuring that preventive measures are being rigorously enforced to reduce work accidents and lower the national index of work injury rates.
The UAE’s labour market allows both employers and workers to choose from six distinct work patterns.
These patterns enhance business facilitation and market flexibility while meeting workforce needs. Companies can optimise productivity and operational costs, while workers benefit from diversified income options from the six patterns.
Remote work is an option where workers can perform all or part of their tasks outside the traditional workplace, relying on electronic communication with employers.
Flexible work involves work hours or days being adjusted based on employer requirements and the worker’s life circumstances. With part-time work, individuals can work for one or several entities for a specified number of hours or days. Full-time work refers to traditional full-time employment. Temporary work involves task-specific work for a defined duration. Lastly, job sharing involves multiple workers sharing responsibilities for a single role.
