The Eid Al Fitr season has brought a 50% surge in sales for Abu Dhabi’s shopping centres, according to sales and marketing officials. In addition to the increase from the previous few days, industry representatives said that they expect sale to double in the coming days for clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, and women’s handbags.
Representatives told Aletihad that stores have offered massive discounts and promotions of over 75% on displayed goods during the Eid season.
The market has witnessed rapid demand for electronic devices, especially mobile phones, for Eid gifts, in addition to the classic choice of gold jewellery.
Reysel Gambloun, a sales manager at a clothing store, said that deamnd for women’s partywear has increased significantly, with sales in Abu Dhabi commercial centres increasing steadily over the final days of the holy month.
Shoppers visit the centres not only for Eid gifts and clothing, but to enjoy the festive atmosphere, Gambloun added. Fakhirah Al Ameri, a mother, said that she makes sure to purchase all of her children’s Eid Al Fitr needs while taking advantage of the discounts that stores offer around the holiday.
Hamda Al Qubaisi, a teacher, said that she prefers to take advantage of the offers in shopping centres, noting that she buys directly from stores during Eid, not online purchases. Qubaisi explained that she prefers to see ready-made clothing pieces in person and measure them herself.
Al Qubaisi highlighted the high quality of goods offered in the lcoal market, adding that she likes to shift between different shopping centres and stores to find what suits her best.
