The Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL), under the umbrella of Dubai Municipality, successfully conducted approximately 6,700 test on agricultural products and fresh milk during the Hatta Farming Festival.
During the festival, the laboratory provided instant testing services, underscoring the city’s unwavering commitment to food safety and quality.
The DCL includes an array of specialised laboratories, each equipped with advanced equipment, enabling the laboratory to examine a diverse range of products circulating within Dubai’s markets.
Recently, the Dubai Municipality rolled out new updates to the Dubai Smart Mobile Lab, integrating chemical and gemmological testing for an array of food items, consumer goods, and other products.
With over 20 cutting-edge devices and technologies at its disposal, the DCL operates through advanced computer programmes that facilitate highly accurate laboratory tests. This technological edge allows for rapid analysis, setting a new benchmark in efficiency when compared to conventional devices.
The DCL has also developed a new and innovative mechanism designed to detect pork derivatives in processed meat products. This method uses high concentrations of DNA extracted from food samples, to detected the presence of pork with a high degree of accuracy.
DCL’s microbiological analysis services offer stakeholders valuable insight into the quality and safety of food products, dietary supplements, and food contact materials, along with any needed reports, including estimations of product shelf life.
DCL’s environmental sample testing, ranging from various types of water, from swimming pools to irrigation, to soil samples, and dental clinics, ensure samples are free from pathogens.
