ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Swim for Clean Seas, the pioneering environmental initiative, in collaboration with The Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center, announced the successful completion of its first-ever School Ambassador Programme.

A total of 55 ambassadors from 17 schools signed up for the one of a kind initiative, marking a significant community milestone in the fight against plastic pollution in oceans.

The Swim for Clean Seas School Ambassadorship programme has taken a monumental step forward in environmental education and activism and will continue year on year as part of the Swim for Clean Seas initiative.

The programme aims to engage and educate youth in the emirate about the critical issue of ocean pollution, which saw an overwhelming response including students participating in three transformative workshops.

Held on February 16 and 23, and March 1, the workshops included hands-on activities. Those included a discovery journey, in-depth discussions on the science behind plastic pollution, and creative sessions where students developed their expressive projects to deliver the message of conservation.

Sessions were designed to educate and ultimately inspire students to become proactive ambassadors of change within their communities.

Notably, this season was sponsored by Abu Dhabi-based luxury boutique real estate company, Rex Real Estate.

We are proud to play a part in nurturing the new generation of environmental advocates in the UAE."

Looking Ahead
After completing the workshops, these newly minted ambassadors are set to embody the knowledge and values imparted during their training, representing the cause in their schools and with their peers.

As they prepare for the "Plastic Asking" showcase, their journey will continue through creative presentations of their learnings and projects, which will be featured at the annual Swim for Clean Seas event on April 21.

This event serves as a platform for these young environmentalists to shine, showcasing their dedication and innovative and creative approaches to examining plastic pollution through a lens of curiosity and imagination.
