DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology at Dubai Police recently received a delegation from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research in the Republic of India. The delegation comprised employees and students who sought to gain insights into the work mechanisms of forensic evidence and the scientific specialisations that support police work, which play a crucial role in providing technical evidence for judicial proceedings.


Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalaita Al Muhairi, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, along with his deputy for Administration Affairs, Brigadier Maki Suleiman, and Expert Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Rashid Hamdan Al Ghafri, Director of the International Centre for Forensic Science (ICFS) at Dubai Police, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed their hope that they would benefit from the knowledge of the forensic experts across various scientific disciplines.


The delegation received a comprehensive explanation about the work mechanisms of various departments and divisions within the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology. They were provided insights into the scientific specialisations and the application of biotechnology in different subfields of forensic sciences, including forensic biology and forensic genetics.


Furthermore, the delegation was taken on a tour of the facilities at the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology. They had the opportunity to review the scientific specialties, state-of-the-art tools, and modern techniques employed in the field.
