DUBAI (ALETIHAD)
The Dubai Police Ramadan Games for Inmates has commenced at the Misdemeanor and Violations Prison Department at Dubai Police, with the enthusiastic participation of 98 inmates. The tournament features competitive matches of table tennis, billiards, and chess.
The event was attended by Brigadier Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Dubai Police, and his Deputy, Brigadier Salah Juma Bu Osaiba, along with several senior officers and directors of sub-departments.
Brig. Julfar pointed out that the Punitive and Correctional Establishments, under the guidance of His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and the follow-up of Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigation Affairs, organise a wide range of year-round sports tournaments, physical and mental competitions, as well as various educational and training programs.
He emphasised that these initiatives are specifically tailored to actively engage the inmates, as they profoundly impact their morale within the prison facilities. Furthermore, he highlighted that these activities enhance their physical capabilities, empower them to harness their potential, and effectively productively utilise their leisure time.
Brig. Julfar further indicated that these tournaments and events foster happiness and a positive spirit among inmates and encourage them to participate in various activities and competitions. He concluded, 'They also contribute to maintaining their physical fitness and mental agility and improving their overall quality of life within the prison environment.'
A total of 40 inmates compete in billiards, 30 inmates play table tennis, and 28 play chess. The organising committee has allocated trophies, gold and silver medals, and incentives for the winners.
