SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)

With the aim of supporting small businesses and offering an ideal atmosphere for shopping in the holy Ramadan, Abu Dhabi City Municipality has launched the Ramadan Al Freej Market in Abu Dhabi Corniche.

The event intends to assist local farmers, business owners, and productive families in addition to enhancing community involvement by offering a fun-filled family environment to improve the community's well-being.

Offering a one-stop shopping experience, the market allows visitors to acquire  fresh agricultural products, including local and organic options. This includes fruits, vegetables, dairy products, honey, dates, herbs, among other necessities for the holy month.

Abdulla, who runs a perfume stall, told Aletihad that the Ramadan market offers an ideal opportunity for productive families to display their products.

"Given the high attendance and the availability of facilities for children, the initiative is seen as a means of providing a recreational platform for people," he added.

Tariq, who works at a calligraphy and drawing company, said that this is the first time his firm has participated in the event, expressing gratitude to the municipality for providing a platform.

"This event is wonderful and the demand was great. We would be delighted to take part in the future events as well," he added.

Iman, who owns a clothing store, said: "The event is ideal for families since it takes place at a convenient time - directly after the Taraweeh prayer."

Afraa Alsharif, who is showcasing her traditional Emirati cuisine project, expresses gratitude to the event's organisers. "Every year, we take part in this event. It enables us to showcase our products to the public.

The event aims to bring joy to children as well, and we appreciate the aid and round-the-clock protection that is provided by the organisers. Apart from that, they provide us places to raise our income."

Razan Qwaider, an Abu Dhabi resident visiting the market, said that videos about the event on social media piqued her interest.

"I saw videos about the event on Instagram and wanted to come here with my son. The variety of children's activities offered and their affordable costs really thrilled me," she added.

The market will run until March 24 from 20:00 to 1:00am.
