The University of Sharjah and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the management and final results of the Arab Award for Research in the Healthcare and enhancing cooperation in medical research and scientific publishing.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Hamid M. Al Naimy, the university's chancellor, and Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, the secretary-general and CEO of the foundation.
The terms of the MoU emphasise the importance of encouraging outstanding researchers in the Arab world in the medical sector.
It seeks to provide a conducive environment to enhance collaborative scientific work at the regional level.
It also aims to build the professional and academic capacities of youth in the medical sector, enriching their experiences, and fostering cooperation among education professionals in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Maamar Bettayeb, the university's vice chancellor for Research & Graduate Studies, and Dr. Rabih Halawani, the director of the Sharjah Institute for Medical Research and Health Sciences. From the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, Dr. Salama Al Mehairi, the director of the Medical Excellence Department, Khulood Ahli, the head of the Medical Awards Department, and Dr. Shereen Hamada, a specialist in awards, were present.
