Upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the organisation will provide 10,000 Iftar meals every day during the holy month of Ramadan.
These meals will be distributed to the fasting people at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the Indonesian city of Solo (Surakarta).
The ERC began implementing Sheikh Hamdan's directives and making the necessary arrangements to expand the umbrella of beneficiaries of the Iftar programme inside the mosque and in the city of Solo in general.
The organisation is working to involve the local population in the implementation of the project by providing them with basic food supplies for the underprivileged who will prepare the meals for the fasting people in an initiative that mirrors the spirit of solidarity and cooperation that characterises the holy month of Ramadan.
It stressed that the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed in this regard come to strengthen the country's humanitarian initiatives for the benefit of brothers and friends during the holy month of Ramadan.
The ERC said that it was keen to provide the basic Ramadan needs for the fasting people from the local markets in the city of Solo.
It pointed out that hundreds of volunteers from the local community will participate in supervising and organising the distribution of meals to the fasting people in mosque and its surroundings.
The UAE philanthropic organisation praised the spirit of cooperation with the management of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo.
