Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), Saqr Ghobash, received the Ambassador of Malta to the UAE, Maria Camilleri Calleja, at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperative relations between the two countries in the parliamentary, cultural, and educational fields.
They also highlighted the importance of exchanging visits and experiences between the FNC and the Maltese House of Representatives, in a way that reflects the development of the UAE-Malta relations in light of the support of the leadership of both countries.
Ghobash stressed the importance of enhancing the role of bilateral parliamentary work, which contributes to supporting government cooperation, which is witnessing growing development, in addition to supporting the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of the two countries to develop their relations based on the foundations of friendship, mutual respect, and common interests.
He pointed to the important role that Malta plays in the region and the necessity of cooperation in regional and international issues of common concern, including the situation in the eastern Mediterranean region.
Ghobash further underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging experiences to include priority sectors within the future economic plans of the two countries. The most important of which being advanced technology and innovation, tourism, and entrepreneurship.
Calleja praised the role played by the FNC through effective parliamentary diplomacy and its distinguished participation in international parliamentary events.
She highlighted the depth of the distinguished cooperative relations between the two countries and the keenness to develop them in all fields, further underscoring the UAE's humanitarian efforts at various levels.
