The Literary and Reading Committee at the Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) General Headquarters participated in "Al Wathba Reads" Festival.
Held between March 4-7, the event was organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism at Al Wathba Library.
Several governmental entities participated in the event as part of the activities for Reading Month 2024.
The committee distributed books to attendees and briefed the audience about the objectives of the Happiness Patrol.
The Police Heritage Section of the Protocol and Public Relations Department spoke about the historical legacy of ADP and their contributions to the UAE's development process.
Chairman of the committee, Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Abdullah Al-Saadi, emphasised ADP's interest in participating in pioneering initiatives to enhance the culture of reading.
He also explained that the Month of Reading is one of the most prominent monthly events in the United Arab Emirates, and ADP is proud to be part of it.
The police force works on activities and initiatives to spread and consolidate the culture of reading as a daily habit, aiming to build a distinguished and creative generation capable of innovation in all fields.
He urged the public, especially the youth, to read, highlighting the benefits of spending time doing it everyday.
He explained that reading helps in professional advancement, noting that studies have shown that reading reduces stress, enhances cognitive functions, and increases the ability to empathise with others.
