UOS, AUS partner up to enhance academic relationship

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), alongside Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UOS and AUS.

The MoU aims to establish a cooperation framework between the two universities and facilitate joint initiatives.

A signing ceremony was held at UOS, where Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, and Chancellor of the American University of Sharjah, Dr. Tod Laursen, formalised the MoU.

The agreement's goal is for the two universities to cooperate through exchange programmes for students and faculty members to broaden research options and facilitate the transfer of students between the two institutions at the bachelor's and master's degree levels.

It also aims to enhance joint academic endeavours, including supporting cooperative supervision of graduate students, conducting joint research activities, and establishing dual academy programmes and short-term specialised programmes.

Additionally, the agreement also encourage both institutions to collaborate on research endeavours and grant applications and joint work in e-learning, consultation, curriculum development, and vocational training.

Moreover, it entails hosting joint workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance academic discourse and facilitate knowledge exchange on a global scale.

The universities will share resources and work on institutional development, including the exchange of academic materials, institutional data, and strategic standards for a shared enhancement of quality.

A steering committee will be established to ensure the successful implementation of outcomes and a joint institution will also be formed to support the financing of joint scientific activities

The MoU and partnership highlight both universities' commitment to boosting academic excellence, research innovation, and cultural understanding locally and internationally.
