ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) of the UAE, tasked with developing an advanced R&D ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uzbekistan's Ministry Of Digital Technologies. This agreement, announced at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, aims to enhance the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) throughout Uzbekistan's technological infrastructure and government services, utilising ATRC's expertise and resources.

As part of the agreement, Uzbekistan commits to adopting and promoting Falcon LLMs (Large Language Models) and related AI solutions, including encouraging the use of Falcon technology in various digital applications. Uzbekistan also plans to support the Falcon Foundation, a new initiative aimed at fostering the development of these open-source AI models. This partnership signifies an important step in expanding the reach of Falcon technology beyond the Middle East, setting the stage for future global collaborations in tech innovation.

His Excellency Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director General of ATRC, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: "The signing of this agreement underscores ATRC's steadfast dedication to forging global partnerships in the realm of AI. Collaborating closely with the government of Uzbekistan, we look forward to supporting the wider adoption of Falcon's pioneering solutions across diverse organisations within the country."

H.E. Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, also highlighted the benefits of the collaboration: "We are pleased to join forces with ATRC, in encouraging innovation as we integrate the state-of-the-art Falcon AI models into Uzbekistan's technological infrastructure and government services. Our joint efforts are poised to fast-track innovation and help us overcome digital barriers to achieve our potential."

Falcon LLM is a leading open-source AI model created by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), ATRC's applied research division. In November 2023, ATRC, together with its commercial arm VentureOne, launched AI71, an innovative AI company offering specialised AI models for various clients, including decentralised data ownership options. Both TII and AI71 are vital channels for deploying the Falcon series of LLMs.
