His Excellency Faisal Al-Bannai Secretary General of Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and Chairman of AI71 spoke about the UAE AI strategy at the World Government Summit (WGS) in Dubai on Tuesday, where he lauded the UAE’s leadership in the field and spoke about the importance of data governance.
“The new oil in the AI world is data,” he said.
“We will not give out our data to companies that will use it to train their models, we will create our own models to help our own people,” he explained.
He also announced $200m which the UAE was investing in creating a platform for other countries to come utilise the UAE technological prowess in the field to solve their issues.
The idea, he said, was to make the country a major technology exporter in the future.
