Two schools in Dubai have made it onto a curated list of top 25 private schools to watch around the world, due to their distinct qualities and contributions to the "educational landscape". The "Ones to Watch" list by the Global Schools Index was published by Carfax Education, a global education company. The schools were handpicked by educational experts based on meticulous research.

The 2023 report stated that the list is divided into four distinct categories, featuring 25 schools that are believed to be on the brink of being among the top 125 schools in the world, or ones that offer something that distinguishes them from the mainstream.

The Deira International School in Dubai was named in the "Ones to Watch" category for schools with the potential to make a "significant impact".

The Royal Grammar School Guildford in Dubai was listed among the "New Schools to Watch" list, which highlights "promising" new education institutions.

The report described the Deira International School as a "steady contributor" to the UAE's educational landscape over the years.

"Although it follows the British curriculum until Year 11, the IB principles and values are deeply embedded into all aspects of teaching, encouraging an enquiring mindset and self-motivated learning from the Early Years onwards.

"Pupils take an active role in the decision-making processes of the school and their collaboration with architects and designers for the new 6th form centre demonstrates how well this approach works. A culture of coaching and mentorship means no pupil or staff member gets left behind," the report said. The Royal Grammar School Guildford first opened its doors to students in 2021, welcoming pupils to an eco-friendly campus designed to follow sustainability standards in Tilal Al Ghaf, Dubai.

"The school's stated aims are to 'lead by example, stay true to our values, innovate, collaborate, and strive to be the very best we can be.' And this ethos is proving attractive to families moving to Dubai with waiting lists already a feature here," the report stated. The two remaining categories for listed institutions include "Small Gems" which lists small schools offering a distinctive learning experience, and "Something Different", which highlights schools with unconventional approaches to education.
