The global community has been united in mourning and condemnation following the tragic loss of three members of the UAE Armed Forces and an officer from the Bahrain Defence Force, who were martyred in a terrorist attack in the Republic of Somalia.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced the devastating incident, which also resulted in injuries to two other individuals, noting that the martyrs were in Somalia under a bilateral agreement between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Somalia, aimed at training and qualifying the Somali Armed Forces, a testament to the military cooperation between the two nations.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Defence offered prayers for the martyrs and extended its deepest condolences to their bereaved families, wishing a swift recovery for the wounded. The ministry highlighted ongoing coordination and cooperation with the Somali government to thoroughly investigate this heinous act of terrorism.
The Ministry’s sentiments were echoed across the Arab world and beyond, as leaders and officials from various countries voiced their condemnation and solidarity.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, offering condolences and reiterating the Kingdom’s stance against violence, terrorism, and extremism.
Similarly, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, extending heartfelt condolences to the UAE and stressing the importance of international cooperation to eradicate terrorism.
Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Sultanate’s sincere condolences and sympathy and wished the injured a speedy recovery, reiterating condemnation of violence and terrorism.
Egypt sent its condolences to both countries, reiterating the strong condemnation for the “heinous terrorist attack” and calling for unified action to uproot terrorism.
Adel Abdel Rahman Al Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, also condemned the terrorist acts targeting innocent lives, emphasising that such acts go against the values of Islam, other religions, and international laws. Al Asoumi expressed full support and solidarity with the UAE and Bahrain, acknowledging the sacrifices of their armed forces in international security and the fight against terrorism.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also denounced the attack, affirming Jordan’s solidarity with the UAE, Bahrain, and Somalia against violence and terrorism.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia expressed his deep condolences to the UAE and the people affected by this tragedy in a post on X.
“We condemn in our strongest terms this heinous act in which these officers were killed. I have instructed an urgent investigation on the matter”, he said.
Pakistan and Kenya joined in expressing their condolences and condemnation, with Pakistan expressing solidarity in this difficult hour and Kenya condemning the cowardly act by Al-Shabaab.
As investigations continue, the international community stands with the UAE, Bahrain, and Somalia, honouring the memory of the fallen and reaffirming their resolve against terrorism.
