RABI HAMAMSAH (ABU DHABI)

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the UMEX and SimTEX 2024 exhibitions concluded on Thursday after witnessing many live demonstrations, discussion sessions, commercial deals, and competitions.

The two exhibitions, organised by ADNEC Group in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the strategic partner EDGE Group, saw several Emirati companies showcasing the most prominent new technologies that are shaping the future of the global unmanned systems sector.

Distinguished Emirati Participation

The two exhibitions offered an opportunity for programmers, entrepreneurs, UAE companies, and UAE start-ups to participate in a programming challenge, organised by the Ministry of Defence, to show off their skills and creativity in programming for unmanned systems and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Through the ‘’UMEX NextGen’’ platform, start-up companies gained an opportunity to network with top-notch professionals, form strategic partnerships, and access valuable investment opportunities worldwide.

Several Emirati companies specialised in defence systems, drones, and AI applications took part in exhibitions, introducing their products and expertise. Visitors and participants alike also interacted with new UAE-developed innovations launched during the sixth editions.

The UMEX commercial platform, live air shows, UMEX talks, and the UMEX NextGen innovation competition, along with the coding challenge competition, drew the attention of both visitors and participants.

The UAE’s ‘AM Industries’

AM Industries is among the many Emirati companies that participated in the UMEX and SimTEX 2024 exhibitions, where it showcased its advanced drones, developed by Emirati youth. Founded by Ahmed Al Mazrouei, a recipient of numerous local and regional awards for his innovative creations, the company is dedicated to transforming unique ideas into commercially viable products.

In an interview with Aletihad, Ahmed Al Mazrouei, the CEO and Founder of AM Industries Factory, explained: “The factory has a team of professionals and state-ofthe-art machinery that all work together to convert the most sophisticated concepts into reality. We aim to serve the industry with quality work and timely delivery.”

He further mentioned that AM Industries is committed to enhancing its systems for cost efficiency and to surpass customer expectations.

“AM Industries manufactures and uses drones to provide farmers with precision spraying while gathering data for predictive crop yield. This is the fifth time we’ve taken part in the UMEX 24 exhibition. We are participating in the simulator system and simulation system, and in VR. This system has the latest technology which drives development, especially in the defence industries and in training.”

Expanding on AM Industries’ other ongoing projects, Al Mazrouei said: “We started preparing a comprehensive mechanism, including how to get off planes by parachute and onto naval boats, and how to work with the naval boats and how to deal with naval targets. Of course, this is a comprehensive VR system that is connected to the simulator and the simulation system.”

Drones are the future, the founder noted, remarking on the high demand for the technology. According to Al Mazrouei, AM Industries-developed drones designed for surveillance, follow-up, and carrying heavy objects will enter the development and trial stages following the exhibition.
