The new Zayed Educational Complexes are integrating highly advanced technology into the learning environment, exemplified in their efforts to digitalise attendance taking through the use of special cameras installed in specific corners within the complex, capable of recording attendance without the need for paper procedures.
Saeeda Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of the Zayed Educational Complex in Sharjah’s Al Suyoh suburb, said the complexes are distinguished by their advanced educational facilities, which support sustainability in line with the directives of the wise leadership.
The complexes include modern laboratories that support skill-building, including FabLabs for manufacturing, along with media, nutrition, and computer laboratories. The Sharjah complex includes 27 different scientific laboratories, visual arts and animation laboratories, music rooms, two libraries, and three outdoor playgrounds, she explained.
The educational facility also boasts special halls and facilities for people of determination, a play area for children in kindergarten classes, a nursery or early education centre, and a sleeping area. The complex includes a control room for sound and supervision, rooms for nurses and guards, and 79 classrooms.
Al Suyoh Complex, which can accommodate 2,250 students from kindergarten to secondary school, is one of 11 complexes that were inaugurated at the beginning of the academic year as a group of important national projects that receive support from the leadership.
“It is noteworthy that the 11 Zayed Educational Complexes were opened in September, at the beginning of the current academic year, were based on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him,’’ Al Hammadi said.
The project is a national achievement, Al Hammadi said, noting that the complex was made possible through the efforts of a team from the Emirates Foundation for School Education, the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in addition to 30 local entities.
The complexes were completed within eight months in terms of design, completion, and operation, in accordance with the best international standards which integrate sustainability standards and advanced technology. Around 16,000 consultants, engineers, supervisors, and workers worked on the project.
“All 11 complexes can accommodate a total of 28,000 male and female students through their combined 920 classrooms,” she said. The state-of-the-art complexes are part of major transformational projects in the education sector announced by the leadership, and provide a distinguished learning experience to students through their advanced facilities that aim to improve educational outcomes and enhance students’ knowledge and skills, Al Hammadi said.
The complexes are staffed by an elite group of educators to ensure the benefit of students and to keep pace with the latest technologies in the sector, she added.
