JUMAA AL NUAIMI (ABU DHABI)

The recent launch of the new corporate identity of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (ADSSA) reaffirms the Authority’s commitment to providing a comprehensive safety net for Emirati families in Abu Dhabi, according to its Director General Abdulla Humaid Al Ameri.

The new corporate identity, under the slogan “Positive Participation for a Decent Life” enhances the level of compatibility and integrates efforts with strategic partners in the fields of social empowerment and practical training, Al Ameri said

“This confirms our strategic vision to achieve financially independent and socially effective families,” he told Aletihad in an interview.

Al Ameri indicated that since the establishment of the Authority, social support has been provided to 8,568 beneficiary families.

“We have drawn inspiration from the slogan ‘Positive Participation for a Dignified Life’, deriving from the wise vision of our leadership regarding the importance of positive citizenship in achieving a dignified and sustainable life for members of society and contributing to the comprehensive development efforts witnessed in the UAE and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Our wise leadership realises that every citizen possesses the capabilities and skills necessary to participate in the labour market regardless of their age and qualifications,” Al Ameri said.

The ADSSA offers financial and social support, and empowerment programmes in cooperation with its partners, especially in enhancing financial literacy. It supports initiatives of social care and development provided by various sector institutions according to the strategy of the Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi.

The Authority’s strategic vision aims at fostering family cohesion, with a particular focus on providing financial and social support, and offering empowerment programmes, ensuring positive participation of beneficiaries, Al Ameri noted.

Training Programmes

Al Ameri emphasised the Authority’s keenness to design and organise training and awareness programmes, in cooperation with partners from the public and private sectors, to prepare beneficiary families to enter the labour market, in line with the needs of the market and the government strategies for employment.

“The Authority, in collaboration with its partners, enabled around 964 beneficiaries to secure permanent employment. It also assisted 438 individuals from beneficiary families in completing general and continuous education programmes. Furthermore, it provided specialised training opportunities for approximately 760 citizens from beneficiary families,” he explained.

Currently, the Authority offers social support to more than 4,475 families, comprising 28,818 individuals in various regions of the Emirate, according to Al Ameri.

The Director General emphasised that the ADSSA harnesses all its resources and services to support the social sector and the strategic directions of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi.

“The goal is to achieve a decent life for all members of society, playing a fundamental role in supporting specific social priorities within its scope. This includes ensuring a decent life for families in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, based on four main strategic objectives: providing appropriate support to those in need, empowering beneficiaries, protecting vulnerable groups, and executing high-efficiency and effective operations,” he said.

The Authority is also committed to conducting specialised social and financial studies that provide insights into the circumstances of deserving families in Abu Dhabi. It possesses a comprehensive database that enhances the efforts of the social sector, government institutions, and their future programmes, creating a sustainable positive impact in the Emirate.

Al Ameri also highlighted the Authority’s electronic transformation, which streamlines access to its services and simplifies procedures.

“The technological evolution we are experiencing today, and the electronic transformation in service delivery, have transitioned us from traditional transactions to digital transactions that facilitate access to services for all members of society. Individuals can now obtain services in a matter of minutes,” he said.

“We, at the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, have adopted the digital transformation approach taken by the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to create an effortless user experience,” he added.

The Authority, since its inception, has sought to reduce the time required for low-income families in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to obtain social support, the Director General said.

The ADSSA is continuing its efforts to expedite the pace of providing social support, ensuring a decent life for low-income families in Abu Dhabi, Al Ameri continued.

“Today, we are talking about the beneficiaries receiving social support services in less than 23 days, thanks to the electronic linkage system, with 56 sources of information from more than 27 local and federal entities. This achievement is significant and has been facilitated by this system, which serves as an information exchange point, consolidating all information related to the beneficiaries’ request. Undoubtedly, this has contributed to reaching the most deserving families for support in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” Al Ameri said.

He also brought attention to the Authority’s automatic update system, which reviews the family’s status based on the latest data available in the Authority’s electronic system. It analyses and records differences between the previous and current status of the family. The system calculates the new monthly entitlement, and automatic approval of social financial support payments without human intervention.

The Director-General of the ADSSA also drew attention to its Home Visits and Interviews Management System.

“We started using the Home Visits and Interviews Management System in September 2023, designed according to precise standards aimed at automating and simplifying procedures, such as handling requests, scheduling visits, and preparing reports using various applications. It represents a new addition in the digital transformation journey of our work mechanisms in the Authority.”
