The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) organised a media tour of its pavilions at the Sheikh Zayed Festival, where it is showcasing its services, including the “Agricultural Oasis”, a special pavilion along with the contests associated with the Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence, and the auction platform for exceptional livestock varieties. Details on the number of applicants for the award are expected to be announced following the closure of registration.
The Authority organises numerous events to support animal and plant sustainability. The Agricultural Oasis pavilion includes a reception area, the Oasis Council, an exhibition to reduce food loss and waste, and a children’s corner to educate young children about food safety.
The Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence pavilion includes diverse events throughout the festival, with interactive competitions for participants and the public, including 9 festivals and 21 contests, plus 11 livestock auctions, with valuable prizes and gifts available for both participants and the public.
The Authority has also invited media institutions and influencers to participate in a special competition for printed and online media, offering significant monetary prizes for influencers and websites, as well as certificates of appreciation and plaques for winning newspapers. Badr Al Shamsi, spokesperson for Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, said that the goal is to promote the award using various forms of media to highlight the country’s agriculture and livestock sector. A committee will judge the entries, ensuring they meet the approved conditions listed on the award’s website.
Al Shamsi discussed specific rules for each competition, noting that while the main contests for the Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Award for Agricultural Excellence have closed, the media contest remains open.
Regarding the Authority’s participation in the festival, Al Shamsi said that this year, the Authority focused on raising awareness about food loss and waste, aiming to elevate the community’s awareness of sustainability and food security.
Al Shamsi added that the Authority aims to inform festival visitors about Abu Dhabi’s advancements in agriculture, food safety, food and biosecurity, with the additional objective of enhancing the agriculture sector and furthering sustainable agricultural development.
The pavilion also aims to introduce services provided to farmers, livestock breeders, and food traders. The various events organised by the Authority in the Oasis support its strategic goals to sustain the agricultural sector, adopt modern technology, support local agricultural products, enhance their market presence, and support farmers.
