Al Ain (Aletihad) - Cucina Del Sul’s popular Meats & Mountains food festival is back for a fortnight in Abu Dhabi, with this special event taking place at the picturesque Jebel Hafeet Desert Park in Al Ain.

The popular open-fire food festival is back for two weekends only – this Saturday and the next on December 16 – from 4pm onwards. Brought about by husband-and-wife-owned Cucina Del Sul, Meats & Mountains will champion homegrown barbecue talents and brands including Holy Smokes, Panamericana, BBQ Sultan, See You On The Grill, Mario Haddad, and for something sweet, kunafa by Omar Odali.

As well as all the unmissable food pop-ups, there will be plenty of activities for the whole family including kite-flying for the little ones, hiking options for those who want to explore some more of the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site, soulful live music, camel rides, and an outdoor art exhibition showcasing Emirati artists.

It offers an opportunity to partake in overnight camping, and wake up to the stunning views of the rising sun from the Jebel Hafeet mountains in the midst of nature.

The art trail is a hike that blends nature and culture. It takes you through the scenic landscape of Jebel Hafeet and Al Ain. There are only limited overnight spaces available from Pura Eco Retreat, so you must reserve your accommodations early after purchasing the food fire festival tickets.

These accommodations are available in a variety of shapes – domes, mono and twin lodges for couples and families, heritage tents, safari tends and the modern, orange tents.

There is a public campsite as well. Tickets start at Dh90 for children between the ages of 5 and 12 while adult tickets costs Dh360, which includes the prices for the food. Tickets for toddlers are priced at Dh1.
