ALI AL AMOUDI (ABU DHABI) - The Ma’an Social Investment Fund announced the launch of a series of volunteering events across Abu Dhabi to encourage residents to engage, participate, and give back to the community.
The activities bring together volunteers of different ages and cultural backgrounds, allowing them to hone their skills and interests in alignment with Ma’an’s commitment to addressing social priorities and empowering the third sector.
As part of its efforts to protect the environment, Ma’an provides volunteers with the opportunity to lead the “Community Cleans” initiative, aimed at attracting 500 volunteers among residents, students, and artists to participate in collective cleaning campaigns to preserve the environment.
Volunteers target specific areas in Abu Dhabi to collect and sort waste, and to later create artistic works from it, to ultimately be displayed in a public auction. The initiative’s primary objective is to build a cooperative and cohesive community in line with the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership.
Ma’an also supports senior citizens and residents through several initiatives, including “Generations Journey”, a programme that enhances communication between the older generation and the younger generation, and addresses priorities facing seniors, including social integration, health needs, and participation in activities and events. As part of the programme, a group of volunteers organises walking tours at various locations in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Ma’an and private sector institutions.
The recent “Generations Journey” programme successfully attracted several volunteers and seniors for a rich experience of exchanging knowledge and experiences. Ma’an’s community volunteering programmes also cover a range of issues related to physical and mental health, the environment, social isolation, domestic violence, substance abuse, women empowerment, and more.
These programmes aim to assist a large amount of citizens and residents, including people of determination, senior citizens, at-risk youth, workers, women, and the general public. Those interested in volunteering can register for upcoming activities by visiting Ma’an’s official website or by downloading the dedicated mobile app.
